Ryszard Sliwka is a painter, educator and architect, currently based in Bath, UK.
He has worked and exhibited in many different venues in the USA, Italy, Canada and the UK.  His work moves between figurative and abstract concerns, focusing on the way painting deepens our experience of space and time.
Early projects were shaped by a long-standing fascination with the archaic. An early exhibition entitled ‘Geometries of Creation’ focused on ancient motifs such as Votives and Vesicas as well as antique and mythological images and themes .
In recent years the work has moved away from the idea of archaic time to reflect on a more disruptive concept of time experienced as a ‘signal disruption’ – an abstract art inspired by the temporal imagery of the TV and computer screen caught in a specific moment of electronic dissolution. This work pairs with a secondary complementary figurative theme based on the idea of the ‘uncanny.’
He is currently based in Bath, England.
